Music in the midnight sun: Behind Norway’s edge in online music

sound music production

If Capsule.fm has its way, Siri and Samantha will be replaced by Miranda. The first two AI assistants are ubiquitous to Apple users and audiences of the film “Her.” But Capsule.fm co-founder Danielle Reid hopes that Miranda and her co-star, Carl, will pivot the streaming music space. Earlier this year, the German startup launched its new iOS app, The Early Edition (an Android app is in the works). The Early Edition offers more than music suggestions: it creates unique audio narratives from users’ online content. These users listen to headlines from their favorite news sources, their latest email messages, trending…

Online retailer Fab announces Hem, its new brand for customizable home furnishings

Fab, a design-focused online retailer which recently changed its focus of operations to concentrate on selling its own products rather than third-parties’, has announced that it will be launching a new brand called Hem for “private label furnishings” from Fab and its recently purchased One Nordic Design. Jason Goldberg, founder and CEO of Fab, said on Twitter that the new Hem portal will be a spin-off business from Fab, rather than a rebranding exercise. The portal isn’t actually up-and-running just yet, but it’s due to open its doors in more than 30 countries in September. Goldberg said Hem would provide its own range…

Watch 2014 Champions League final live online: Stream info for Real Madrid vs. Atletico Madrid

Source: www.sbnation.com – Saturday, May 24, 2014
How to watch the Champions League final between Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid, even if you can't get to a television. The Champions League final is an all-Madrid affair this season, with Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid facing off for the fifth time this season. This occasion marks their biggest clash to date — Real are after their 10th European Cup and would be the first team to reach that milestone if they win the match, while Atléti are after their first. Atléti got the better of Real in the league meetings between the clubs, taking four out of a possible six points en route to a league title. But in the Copa del Rey, Los Merengues were far superior, laying a 5-0 aggregate beating on their cross-town rivals before beating Barcelona to lift that trophy. The game is available on TV on FOX in the U.S., Sky and ITV in the U.K. and Sportsnet in Canada, but you can watch online even if you won't have access to a TV when the game kicks off at 2:45 p.m. ET, 7:45 p.m. local time. In the United States, the game is available on FOX Sports GO if that service is supported by your television provider. If not, you can purchase a subscription to FOX Soccer 2 GO which shows Champions League and Europa League all season long, as well as rugby and Australian football. Both ITV and Sky will be showing the game on their streaming platforms, ITV Player and Sky Go, in the UK. The game can be seen on Sportsnet World Online if you live in Canada. In

Google acquires cyber security startup Spider.io to help combat online advertising fraud

180390471 520x245 Google acquires cyber security startup Spider.io to help combat online advertising fraud

Google today announced that it has acquired Spider.io, a London-based cyber security firm that combats online advertising fraud. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, although Google said it would be using the startup’s detection system to improve its display and video ad services.

“By including Spider.io’s fraud fighting expertise in our products, we can scale our efforts to weed out bad actors and improve the entire digital ecosystem,” Neal Mohan, Google’s vice president for display advertising said.

Online ad fraud is a huge problem, whereby advertizers pay for exposure and clicks on the Web that are actually powered by bots, networks of hijacked devices and other non-human traffic. Therefore, advertizers are paying large sums of money for impressions that won’t result in new customers.

With Spider.io, Google hopes to improve the accuracy of the information it gives advertizers, resulting in a “a clearer, cleaner picture of what campaigns and media are truly delivering strong results.” We’ll have to wait and see.
